Reflections

This student was reflecting on the beautiful accounts of how our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) spent time with his wife, Aisha bint Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both).

In our reflection, we came across this good lesson on husband-wife interaction as based on the Sunnah, by Shaykh Riad Ouarzazi of the AlMaghrib Institute.

There’s 20 points/ingredients that he mentions for a successful marriage regardless of what age you are… happy learning:

An insightful lesson on “Spirituality and Rehabilitation” taught by Imam Zaid Shakir, as found on The Zaytuna Institute and Academy site:

… there’s lot to reflect on in this lesson.

May Allah shroud our teachers in Tawfeeq. Allahumma Ameen.

In a talk called “Remembering Allah, Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned the famous sign of marriage as found in the Holy Qur’an (Chapter 30; Verse 21):

وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا لِتَسْكُنُوا إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ مَوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةً إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put permanent friendliness and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect.

Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi questions “why ‘mahabbatun wa rahma (love and mercy)’ are not used?” and later explains:

Marriage is built on permanent friendliness (mawaddah) not on love (mahabba).

… verily this is something to reflect on. May Allah grant us permanent friendliness and mercy. Allahumma Ameen.

When we are dead, seek not our tomb in the earth, but find it in the hearts of men.

Got this student thinking… where will we be found?
